About Azella

Azella started studying parliamentary procedure after attending a contentious PTA meeting. After the meeting she went to the neighborhood library and utilized the ever faithful Dewey Decimal System to find books on meetings. Listed among very few books on the topic was Roberts Rules of Order. The library did not have a copy; however, there were many references on meeting procedures. Armed with a book on meeting policy and procedure Azella returned to the next PTA meeting. It took six months for the group to even think about meeting management tools. The group continued to struggle.

Azella went back to the library and went through every book listed under, ‘Meetings’. She went to Kroch and Brentano’s and purchased a copy of Roberts Rules of Order. Azella studied independently until she attended a Moraine Valley Parliamentary meeting in 1985, the group heightened her interest in the study of parliamentary procedure.

In 1996 Azella joined the National Association of Parliamentarians and passed the membership exam and the registered exam, and in 1997 successfully completed the Professional Qualifying Course.

Azella has served as parliamentarian for local, national, and international, Kiwanis, nursing, medical and dental groups.

Azella has served as Illinois Association of Parliamentarians President and has been recycled many times through the Registered Parliamentarians of Illinois Unit. She is a member of the first NAP electronic unit and the Lee Demeter Registered Parliamentarians Unit. Azella says, “I have stumbled many times on this road.
